Netton class - Homework

In Netton the following is set weekly:

Reading

Please listen to your child read daily using the books sent home from school. A small amount of reading daily (10 minutes) has a huge impact on your child’s reading.  Repeated reading of set text will improve your child’s fluency and comprehension. Encourage enjoyment of other books using books from home or borrowed from the school library.

Spellings

Spellings will be sent home on a Friday in a spelling book. Please ensure your child practises the spellings throughout the week by completing the table. Your child also needs to write one sentence for each word. These can be written in the spelling book. The spelling book needs to come into school each Friday when the spellings will be tested. This will be in the back of the spelling book so that you can see how your child has got on. 

At the start of the term your child will have been tested on  60 high frequency words. A list of these is attached here and will be sent home with the words your child  does not know highlighted. Please practise these regularly at home. 

Other

We will send out small activities to complete at home during the year.
