Netton class - Worship theme

Our Worship theme this term is:

Humility

Our final value this year is the value of Humility. We will discuss what it means to be humble and link this to our school rules. We will share several stories as examples of humility and as we build ideas, we will create humility paper chains to share our suggestions of humility. We will examine the festival of Pentecost and think about why it is important to Christians and to understand build our understanding of the Holy Spirit.

We will link humility to learning to seek help when we need it and being brave enough to accept help from others. We will look at the New Testament parable of The Pharisee and the Tax Collector and through this come to understand that none of us is perfect. We will examine the humility shown by various sports stars and create class Humility jars. We will also look at the friendship between Ruth and Naomi in the bible and discuss what example of humility can be found within it. We will be voting for the new School Council and again consider the role of humility in choosing new candidates.

We will look at the life of St Columba and his work in the community, and create stained glass windows depicting him, while considering what we can do to support our own community.

Finally we will discuss how we are all changing and we will reflect on how we have grown together this year, sharing examples with each other of things that have made us proud of each other. We will look at Jesus showing humility when he washes the apostles’ feet and we will reflect on what we have learnt about Humility and discuss instances of humility we have witnessed in our class communities.
