Welcome to the Upper Woodford Class Page – Woodford’s Year 5 class
It is now the final term of the year – and what a year it’s been. We are proud of your resilience and hard working attitude that you have needed as we have been in and out of lockdown. Well done! Hopefully this term will be more predictable and with better weather, so we can get outside together more and finish Year 5 with a flourish!
Our whole school worship theme is Forgiveness. This is an easy word to understand but not always an easy concept to live out. We will be exploring this together as a class and in whole school worship too.
Our main topic this term is the Carribean, and we are studying ‘Forces‘ and the ‘Human Body‘ in Science. Our class book, which will inspire some of our writing, is ‘Journey to the River Sea‘ by Eva Ibbotson. We are also excited to be doing Forest School this term – enjoy! Please see our learning overview below to see our planning for the term. You can also find our class reading spine below – there is an inspirational list of books for you to read, enjoy.
Please always get in touch if you are worried or have any questions.

Class rules – we agreed these together:
Be kind. If you are kind you might earn friendship in return.
Pick up things if you drop them and keep our classroom tidy.
Listen as well as talk, don’t call out.
Share ideas and participate in class.
Always do your best and persevere, even when it is hard.
Tuck your chairs in before leaving your desk.
Listen carefully to the teacher.
No rocking back on your chair because it is dangerous to rock.
Respect each other.
HAVE FUN !
Here are our E-Safety Rules-remember them!
