Welcome to Lower Woodford class
Lower Woodford is taught by Miss Miranda Naish and supported by Mrs Julie Young.
Spring term
Our topic this term is Woodford Valley and farming Woodford Valley and farming 2022. Did you, your parents or your neighbours use to come to our school or live in the valley? If so we would love your help – please do speak to Miss Naish or contact via the office.
This term we have PE on Wednesday and gym on Thursday.
Our whole school value this term is friendship. Talk at home about what being a good friend looks like.
Have a look at 10 things to do in Lower Woodford to see some of the things we hope to do through the year.
Have a look at our Year 1 reading spine for some suggestions of picture and short chapter books to read together at home. Please do try to hear your child read daily – it really does make a huge difference.
Autumn term
We have had a very busy first term. The class have settled in well and I am so proud of how hard they are working. Here are a few highlights:
We enjoyed an exciting visit from the crew at Wilton Fire Station where we got to squirt hoses, a tour of the engine – including sitting inside and a safety talk.

Our theme for book week was journeys. We enjoyed our whole school book ‘Journey’ by Aaron Becker and created our own imaginary worlds through a door. The children then wrote some fantastic descriptions of their worlds. Here are a few of the children’s creations. We hope they continue to enjoy them at home.

***********************************************************************************
Lower Woodford have chosen these class rules this year:
Listen to adults and each other. Kind hands, kind feet, kind voices, kind words. Say sorry if you do something wrong. Say thank you and please. Put your hands up. Help tidy up. Try your best. Be a good friend.
Our e-safety rules are:
Use the Internet with an adult in the room.
Ask an adult for help if you are unsure.
Tell an adult if you see something you don’t like and click on the dolphin.
Remember not everything on the internet is true – ask someone who knows.
Understand who we might be sharing information with online and ask for help if unsure.
Our extra rule for the computers is:
Always ask before closing or changing someone’s work.
