Library Opening Times
The library is staffed by our enthusiastic librarians every lunchtime from 12.30 until 1.00.
You may visit on any day but so as not to be too crowded we would ask KS1 to try to come on a Monday or Tuesday and KS2 Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.
The library will also open on Tuesday mornings from 8.30 to 8.45 when Reception children can visit with their parents.
The library team are responsible for the issuing of books, checking their return and generally keeping the library a tidy and welcoming place.
They are also responsible for the presentation of any awards and medals and coming up with new ideas.
The Wish List Book was the idea of two of our previous librarians.
This hangs on our noticeboard so you can write down in it any books we haven’t got in the library that you think would be good to add, I will then do my best to provide them. Last year we managed to fulfil most requests.
On your library day do you want to spend time somewhere quiet? Why not sit quietly in the Snazzy Story Corner of the library and read a book or some of the comics and magazines we have? Remember to get a library pass from Mrs Shuttleworth.
On the wall next to the door leading to the Schoolhouse you will find copies of the newspaper First News which we receive regularly, the beano comic and Aquila magazine.
These are for reading in the library only and are not to be taken out of the library. (a copy of First News can also be found in each classroom).
Please be very careful with them as nobody wants to read a tatty paper or comic.
In the Aquila magazine you can read letters from other children or write in yourself. You can read more letters by going to www.aquila.co.uk
The librarians are happy to read a story in the library at lunchtime to any Reception or Year1 children who would like one.
We will be carrying on with our successful buddy storytime sessions which have proven popular with both the older buddies from Salterton & Durnford and the KS1 children. On a Tuesday afternoon small groups of year 5 & 6 children will collect their buddy from Lake class and read them a story.
